Remember that Raga Kafi is a “Sampurna” raga, meaning it uses all seven notes in both ascent and descent. The Vadi is ‘Pa’ and Samvadi is ‘Sa’. It is often sung during the Holi festival to express joy and colors. Since it generates a romantic mood, it is widely used in Thumri, Dadra, Hori, and Kajri forms of semi-classical music.
